So the British capital will host the Olympic Summer Games 2012.

Madrid was among the last candidate cities which were still in the race today, and this was quite a topic in the offices, cafés and media. When Madrid's defeat was announced, some of my collegues jumped from joy - another sign of the strong resentments Catalunya feels towards the Spanish capital. That hosting the Olympic Games in Madrid might bring positive impulses for the nation as a whole does not seem to matter for those who celebrate Madrid's failure as if it was their own triumph.
